Crownhill Fort: Plymouth
Crownhll Fort was constructed between 1862 and 1869 to command the northern approaches to Plymouth Dockyard. It was the key to the northeastern defences and in 1893 held 18 guns on its main ramparts with a further fourteen in its caponiers.
